The VAC provides veterans and their immediate family members coordinated care using an interdisciplinary team approach to evaluate your health needs and facilitate all necessary appointments and referrals. The services available at the VAC include:

  • Medical

  • Family Therapy
  • Behavioral Health
  • Occupational/ Physical Therapy
  • Pharmacy Services

You can make an appointment online here. We will respond to online submissions within two business days. For faster service, call our designated veterans hotline at (954) 262-3524, and select option 2 (Mon-Fri, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.). You will then be connected to one of our Patient Access Coordinators who will help guide you through the scheduling process. When you call, please have the following information available: 

  • Name and Date of Birth
  • Address and telephone number
  • Email address
  • Health Insurance Information, if applicable;
  • Reason for the visit.

Also, please be advised that you will be asked to confirm that you or your spouse/parent are a veteran of the U.S. Armed Forces. See “Eligibility” Section in the Frequently Asked Questions for more details.

Eligibility

All veterans who have been honorably discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible for services at the VAC. This includes any veteran from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, or the Coast Guard.

Additionally, all spouses and dependent, minor children of honorably discharged veterans are also eligible for services at the VAC.

To establish your eligibility for the VAC as a veteran, please bring a legible copy of your DD-214 and a government-issued form of identification to your first appointment.

Yes, if you are experiencing challenges regarding access to care at the VA, you can receive services at the VAC even if you currently receive or are eligible to receive care at the VA Healthcare System.

To establish your eligibility for the VAC as a veteran’s spouse or child, please bring a legible copy of the veteran’s DD-214, a government-issued form of identification, and one of the following documents that identify your relationship to the veteran:

  • Marriage License;
  • Birth Certificate;
  • Tax Returns.

Financial Questions

Yes, if you have any form of health insurance – medical, dental, vision – please provide that information to the Patient Access Coordinator when you schedule your initial appointment. Co-payments and deductibles will be billed as required pursuant to each health insurance plan.

The VAC promises to make the billing process as easy as possible. We are contracted with many leading insurance providers such as:

If you do not see your insurance plan listed, please call (954) 262-FLAG (3524), and one of our Patient Access Coordinators will be pleased to verify whether the VAC accepts your insurance plan.

Yes, if you are an eligible veteran or veteran’s family member and do not have health insurance coverage, you may receive many of the healthcare services provided by the VAC at no cost. This financial assistance is possible due to funding provided by the State of Florida through the Department of Health and will be available through June 30, 2020. 
If you require health care services other than what is covered under the VAC State funding, NSU offers financial assistance to those who qualify.

Yes, if you are an eligible veteran or veteran’s family member, you may receive many of the healthcare services provided by the VAC at no cost, if you do not have health insurance to cover the service. For example, if you have health insurance that covers medical services, and do not have coverage for dental services, you can use your health insurance to cover the medical services provided at the VAC, and dental services provided under the VAC will be of no cost to you. 

This financial assistance is possible due to funding provided by the State of Florida through the Department of Health and will be available through June 30, 2020.
